Kim Kardashian is trying to bring back visible thongs and velour tracksuits & people are not on board at all
KIM Kardashian is trying to bring back the “visible thong” trend that was a dubious hit in the noughties - and people are feeling uncomfortable.
The 39-year-old mum-of-four showcased the fad as she posted in a backless dress from Matthew Williams’ debut collection for Givenchy, which revealed an eye-popping red thong.
The bright red g-string was clearly intended to be the star of the show, and is actually a built-in feature of the dress.
Kim posed for a sultry photo in a hallway after Matthew sent her the gown, and unsurprisingly made sure her famous derriere was the focal point.
She captioned the racy post: “WOW @matthewmwilliams. Congratulations on your first @givenchyofficial collection! It is such a beautiful collection. I can’t wait to wear all of the looks you’ve sent!!”
While her celebrity pals and some dedicated fans gushed over the jaw-dropping look - others were not keen for the thong trend to make a comeback.
One user commented: “Please don’t bring the showing thong back.”
Another added: “Your thong is showing ladyyyyyyy!!”
And one wrote: “Nooo it’s going to be the newest fad now.”
The visible thong trend had its heyday in the noughties, where people would show off their underwear while wearing low rise jeans or skirts over trousers.
From shopping centres to the red carpets, no one could escape the exposed g-string look.
Thankfully the cheeky fad eventually died a death - or so we thought.
Kim isn’t the only celebrity trying to bring it back, with the likes of Bella Hadid also pulling their underwear above their trousers in recent months.
Bella wore her g-string loud and proud above low-slung trousers at the Versace 2020 show.
Meanwhile Hailey Baldwin showcased the look at the Met Gala in 2019, in a glittering peekaboo pant suit from Alexander Wang.
The exposed thong isn’t the only noughties trend Kim is trying to make happen again, and recently rocked a classic velour tracksuit with former bestie Paris Hilton.
In the 2000s, the velour Juicy Couture tracksuit, which had a diamante slogan on the bum, was all the rage, and Kim’s company SKIMS is trying to bring it back.
Her and Paris were seen showing off purple and pink velour tracksuit and crop tops with classic Louis Vuitton bags in promo shots.
Are you on board or steering well clear?
