Mum-of-four who spends £1.2k on her kids’ Christmas gifts defends HUGE present pile
A DOTING mum-of-four has revealed how she goes all out at Christmas time and showers her kids with mountains of presents – but insists they aren’t spoilt.
Brittni said she usually spends the entire year shopping for the occasion and often spends between £1k-£1,500 on gifts for her little ones.
Despite being spoilt for choice when it comes to surprise presents each year, the stay-at-home mum, who is from the US, insists her kids are incredibly grateful regardless of what they get, even if it’s something as small as Play Doh.
She also said that many of the gifts aren’t too expensive and because they don’t get much during the year, including birthdays which are “small and modest”, she doesn’t mind treating them at Christmas.
Speaking with Fabulous, Brittni explained that her kids Aiden, seven, Charlie Autumn, five, Boston, two, and Audrey, almost one each have a budget of around $300 (£230) each, plus an additional $100 (£75) to fill a Santa stocking each.
She said: “Obviously money and what we spend depends on how much income we have made that year. And if my husband gets a bonus.”
She also admitted that in 2019 her and her husband, who works for the United States Postal Service, spent roughly $2k (£1.5) for Christmas.
This amount covered presents for each of the four kids, each other, Santa Claus gifts/stockings, presents for family, decorations and Christmas dinner.
But with so many presents to wrap, it’s not surprising it takes her months to do it, admitting the arthritis in her hands makes the job take longer.
As for what the kids might get, Brittni revealed: “We get them everything from clothes to pyjamas, socks, shoes, school and art supplies, bath toys, learning toys, bikes.
“This year is the first year they will get any electronics. Tablets because we are going on vacation in February and we need them for the car ride.”
She continued: “No one who knows me accuses my kids of being spoiled because they know my children are just as grateful and excited to open a package of Play-Doh or a colouring book or socks as they are to open a tablet or that hot ticket toy item.
“We know Christmas isn’t about presents…but we love giving and seeing our kids so happy.”
This year has been a little different for Brittni though, as she admitted Covid has thrown a spanner in the works.
She said: “This year with Covid I haven’t even started shopping yet. It’s late September. I usually start in May.”
But it won’t stop her from sticking to the usual family traditions which she says make the occasion more fun.
“We leave Santa Claus cookies and milk and also Round Table Pizza and Coca Cola on Christmas Eve and he brings bright blue and colourful candy canes,” she said.
