Best & worst celeb Christmas decor, from Luisa Zissman’s ‘chaotic’ effort to Michelle Keegan’s chic ‘winter wonderland’
CELEBS have been turning their homes into full-on Christmas wonderlands this year with giant trees, epic front door installations and twinkling light displays in a bid to spread festive cheer.
But unfortunately not all of the stars have succeeded in creating fabulous indoor and outdoor displays; with some letting their OTT decorating skills get out of hand...
Billie Faiers, Luisa Zissman, and Stacey Solomon have gone ‘all out’ and ensured their decorations cover every inch of their lavish homes - but some look better than others!
From the tacky displays and themes that are too OTT to the luxurious wonderlands that are stylish and sophisticated, here are some of the best and worst celebrity Christmas displays.
Veronika Kusak, director at , says everyone has a different way of decorating for Christmas and 2020 - especially - doesn’t have a rulebook.
Luisa Zissman
The celeb-favourite Christmas tree company says reality star Luisa Zissman’s festive extravaganza is slightly ‘chaotic’ - and could definitely win the OTT award.
Every inch of the star’s huge front door is decked out with colourful, vibrant Christmas decorations and the giant wreath overwhelms the doors of her swanky mansion.
While inside, her hallway tree appears to be a colourful combination of every single decoration she could find.
Veronika says: ‘Luisa looks every inch the Apprentice with this frosty ostentatious display, lacking a bit of seasonal warmth.
‘She clearly loves the holiday season but more OTT than HOT.’
‘Her hallway tree is also OTT. If ever you wanted to decorate your tree by closing your eyes and throwing everything in the air and seeing where it lands, then this is your inspiration.
‘A little chaotic with a selection box of colours, shapes and sizes all over the place but it has a certain child-like charm.’
Veronika believes Luisa saved her best decorations for her dining room - which featured a glowing gold theme.
The director said the table centrepiece blends beautifully with the Christmas tree - but the star’s OTT nature shines through the ‘generous’ amount of lights on the tree.
However, Veronika believes it still ‘oozes festive flamboyance’. The Apprentice icon also immersed herself in Christmas spirit by making her own wreath for charity.
The front door decoration features traditional red and green colours - while Veronika says ‘it’s over the top and will certainly turn heads if given pride of place on your front door!’
Outside Luisa’s house is no exception to her festive cheer as the star has adorned the trees with an abundance of glittering lights - but Pines and Needles say it looks like a ‘rave’.
Veronika adds: ‘Now we love a real tree and think it’s great to see people add a touch of sparkle to what mother nature has already provided.
‘Luisa has finally added some more stylish razzle-dazzle to some of the trees growing on her property. She said the house looks like a rave at the North Pole and we wouldn’t disagree!’
Billie Faiers
Former Towie beauty Billie Faiers has also decked out her front door for Christmas - but she enlisted a team of professionals to help install a lavish green and red floral display.
While Pines and Needles say Billie’s porch has been decked out in ‘indulgent style’, they pointed out that it’s a child-friendly display Willy Wonka would be proud of.
Veronika comments: ‘Looks like the only way is front-door decadence for reality show favourite Billie who has decked her porch out in indulgent style.
‘This is a sweet child-friendly festive display from the mother-of-two complete with candy canes and lollipops…even Willy Wonka would be proud.
‘We’d probably have a few reservations about entering the front door loaded down with Christmas shopping though, for fear of taking down the greenery!’
Jessica Wright
Unfortunately fellow TOWIE legend Jess Wright has decked out her doorway - but the decorations don’t have the same effect as Billie’s lush door installation.
Pines and Needles said Jess’ arrangement is ‘rather dull’ and ‘symmetrical’ and the colours are too ‘dialled-down’ to fully embrace Christmas festivities.
Veronika says: ‘Squaring up for some sibling rivalry perhaps with her famous brother Mark, Jessica Wright has adorned her doorway from top to toe but falls flat with a rather dull symmetrical arrangement which loses that luscious appeal of Christmastime.
‘The colours are a little dialled-down to feel properly festive and looks like it could almost be for a wedding instead. Maybe practice for the big day - reported to be in June next year!’
However the company was more impressed with Jess’ indoor Christmas decorations - and said her lavish tree perfectly completes her swanky living room.
Veronika comments: ‘Thankfully this is more like it, proving Jesss can have the midas touch.
‘This ice-queen tree is decked in shimmering delights, which perfectly fills the corner of her room.
‘There wasn’t much room for manoeuvre though as the giant fir is just millimetres from the ceiling!’
Michelle Keegan
Elsewhere in Essex, Jess Wright’s sister in law Michelle Keegan has ‘gone to town’ on her Christmas decorations.
Her doorway has been professionally decorated and adorned with twinkling lights and colourful baubles - so much so that it looks like a winter wonderland.
Veronika says: ‘Is she charging an entrance fee? Michelle has gone to town on her decorations, making her home look like an enticing winter wonderland.
‘The stylish actress is used to a flashbulb frenzy wherever she goes and has recreated a fantastic light show of her own.
‘Bringing the outdoors in with decorative features that coordinate in different areas of the house, Michelle is always on trend.’
Rochelle Humes
The Saturday’s bandmate Rochelle Humes decided to deck out her fireplace with a luxurious Christmas wreath to spread festive cheer this year.
Pines and Needles said the Humes family always seem to get their Christmas decorations - indoors and outdoors so right - and this year is no exception.
Veronika says: ‘Forget marvellous, this display is Marvin-llous! Rochelle and husband Marvin have gone for a stunning work of seasonal art to adorn their fireplace.
‘Beautiful colours with a nice mix of contemporary shades and traditional styling make it stand out from the crowd, though let’s hope the flames don’t go near the ribbons!
‘Even with a new baby to think about there’s not much Rochelle doesn’t get right and her take on what looks amazing at Christmas is no different.’
Tom Fletcher
Mcfly star Tom Fletcher got to work decking his whole house out in Christmas decorations while his I’m A Celeb winning wife was away filming the ITV show.
Veronika admitted that his choice of front door display is ‘a riot of colour’ and the mantlepiece garland is slightly OOT.
She says: ‘Perhaps a Jungle hangover can still be seen here, with something of a no sign of basic mantelpiece display for Tom Fletcher and Giovanna.
‘Admittedly it’s always difficult to strike the right tone with traditional garlands near modern television screens, so we reckon it’s time to ditch the tech and embrace Christmas!’
‘Now the doorway is more like it - an explosion of colour and lights greets visitors to their door.
‘If Tom was looking to surprise Mrs Fletcher on her return from I’m a Celebrity in Wales and a change from her drab camp attire this was certainly the way to do it.
‘Not many doorways could carry off such a riot of colour but their traditional red brick frontage is the perfect backdrop and children will just love this.’
Stacey Solomon
While Loose Women star Stacey Solomon has added a ‘sprinkle of quirkiness’ to her Christmas decorations this year, says Veronika from Pines and Needles.
The star has done lots of festive arts and crafts - making her own baubles and even transforming some reindeer figures for the garden.
But she also has decorated her front door with an extravaganza of snowy decorations with a whimsical vibe.
Veronika says: ‘A little sprinkle of quirky has added an intriguing note to Stacey’s take on seasonal delights with some monochrome magic lifting up her sleigh and reindeer in the garden to new heights of Christmas fun.
‘While her tree indoors has cute elf decorations and hint that Stacey’s tree could be very different indeed thanks to this glimpse of what will be hanging on it.
‘As if to offset her contemporary take on decorating for the holidays elsewhere it looks like she has decided on a very traditional wreath, boasting bows, pine cones and gorgeous winter green foliage.
‘It’s a good way to balance what looks like could be a tree dedicated to cooler tones and an edgier look.’
