Stay hydrated with some of the newest health drinks on the market
STAYING hydrated is one of the easiest but most important things you can do for your health. That should come as no surprise given two-thirds of the human body is made up of water.
We try out some of the new health drinks on the market, while our Beauty Editor puts hydrating hyaluronic acids to the test . . .

SHOTS
- £2 per 60ml bottle, no1living.com -
The brainchild of England rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson, No1 Living’s kombucha health shots are great for the gut with active live cultures and prebiotic fibre, while just 2.3 per cent sugar and high in fibre.
I tried the Gut & Immune shot one, with ginger, grapefruit and lime. It provides your day’s vitamin C and five times your D3.
A refreshing, zingy way to start the day.
DRINK
- £2 for a 330ml bottle, sainsburys.co.uk -
The Lo Bros organic kombucha is made with traditional brewing methods, using organic teas and natural fruits to create lightly sparkling and detoxifying drinks full of probiotics to promote gut health.
The limited-edition rhubarb and apple kombucha has a slight vinegar smell from the fermentation process but tastes lovely, like a very dry cider.
On alcohol-free nights, this is the drink I reach for.
WATER
- £1.99 for a one-litre bottle, actiph.shop -
We all know water is good for us . . . but this is special stuff. Actiph is spring water containing electrolytes and minerals.
It has a pH level of nine – more alkaline than regular water, which has a neutral pH of seven, to neutralise acids in the body.
This just tastes like water but is great after exercise or a night on the booze.

BUDGET
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (£5.90 for 30ml, theordinary.deciem.com) -
Many hyaluronic acids draw moisture out of the skin making it feel soft and hydrated temporarily but this contains three forms of HA with varying molecular weights for multi-depth hydration.
It also has vitamin B5 for surface hydration.
I love that The Ordinary has a 365-day return policy too – if you don’t like it return at least half full. This soaked in quickly and plumped. My favourite.
MID-RANGE
- Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum (£6.50 for 30ml, qandaskin.com) -
This contains the hyaluronic acid to rejuvenate and hydrate plus biosaccharide gum, which is made through plant fermentation, for intense moisturisation and to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
It also contains betaine, a byproduct of sugar beet, which helps to balance moisture levels and prevents products feeling sticky.
It felt silky and made my skin feel plumped.
LUXURY
- CurrentBody Skin Hyaluronic Acid Serum (£15 for 45ml, currentbody.com) -

I loved the great ingredients but not the sticky, tight feeling on my skin.
