AS SUMMER gets closer DIY fans are giving their gardens a glow up, with one couple pulling out all the stops to transform their old shed into a playhouse for their three-year-old daughter.

Instead of using their garden shed to house their tools and other unwanted bits, parents and Ross Bliss decided to turn it into a pretty two-storey playhouse for their daughter Nelly's birthday.

They've shared the entire transformation process on and posted before and after photos of the budget-friendly project to Facebook group .

"We transformed our old shed into this beautiful 2 story playhouse for our little girls 3rd birthday and she is OBSESSED with it," said Ross alongside photos of the finished result.

Not only did they add a tiled area - complete with a sweet children's picnic bench () and picket fence (three panels each for £4.49 from Home Bargains) - to the shed, but they also used a wooden framework inside the shed to construct two levels.

Stopping by their local wood yard, the couple picked up five lengths of 2x2 timber for £4 each and two lengths of 2x2 timber to create the two storeys.

On top is a cosy area, fitted with a sun-lounger cushion, for their little girl to chill out in, while underneath is an area for her to play in.

The entire shed was painted both inside and out - first giving the shed a white wash with Dulux emulsion paint and water, before coating in garden paint.

Once all the DIY was complete, Chloe and Ross dressed up their new playhouse with fairy lights, cushions, little flower pots and toys, including a mud kitchen outside, for their little girl to play with.

Fellow parents were so impressed with the finished project and complimented the couple on all their hard work.

"Omg, I’d be obsessed as well! That is so gorgeous!! Well done and your little girl is very lucky," wrote one mum.

Another joked: "We have this shed. And I now want this playhouse... Not for kids. Just for me amazing!!"

A third posted: "Lucky little girl, it looks fabulous."

One more added: "What a lucky young lady it’s brilliant , her own little getaway her own space awesome work."

Others were keen to carry out their own shed transformations, with one person commenting: "We have a shed coming on Saturday to make into playhouse for 2.5 year old - this has made me VERY excited!"

For more garden transformations, one woman transformed her grotty concrete yard into a stunning outdoor space for less than £50.

Plus, one bloke overhauled his junk-filled shed to create a trendy outdoor bar using old paint and scrap wood.

And this family completely revamped their garden for FREE and all they used was wooden pallets.
