PRINCESS Diana "boldly" confronted Camilla Parker Bowles over her relationship with Prince Charles as she "didn't want to be treated like an idiot", a friend has claimed.
Ahead of what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday, the late royal's friend Debbie Frank has appeared in a new ITV documentary where she gives insight into the final years of the couple's marriage.

When she met Diana in 1989, Debbie - who was also the Princess' astrologist - claims Prince Charles was spending the majority of his time at their home in Highgrove close to where Camilla lived.
During the interview, Debbie referenced a "bold" confrontation between Diana and the Duchess of Cornwall which took place at Camilla's sister's 40th birthday party.
She said: "It's a big act of boldness [from Diana] to be able to confront [Camilla].
"But of course, Camilla is a really unflinching person and I don't think it made any difference at all.
"But it made a big difference to Diana - she needed to get herself together, which she did."
The documentary - which airs on ITV at 9pm tonight - claims Diana found Charles and Camilla speaking with a male friend at the party and asked for a moment alone with the Duchess.
The princess says she stayed "deathly calm" while telling Camilla that she knew about her and Charles' affair and asked "not to be treated like an idiot".
Camilla is then alleged to have said that Diana had "everything she ever wanted" and asked: "What more do you want?"
Diana is believed to have responded: "My husband."
In a 1992 BBC interview, Prince Charles was asked directly if he had been "faithful and honourable" to his wife throughout their 15-year marriage - and admitted to having an affair only once his relationship with Diana had "irretrievably broken down".
Elsewhere in the documentary, the late Princess' cousin claimed Diana had a "schoolgirl crush" on her future husband when she was just 15 years old.
Recalling one of her earliest memories of her cousin, Diana Macfarlane said: "We all used to have pictures of various pop stars that we liked. The Monkees, Rod Stewart, people like that.
"I can tell you she used to have photographs of Prince Charles around her bed at West Heath."
