Here’s how often you should REALLY change your pillows – and you’re definitely not doing it enough
LET’S be honest, the majority of us don’t change our bed sheets as often as we should.
It’s one of the biggest household chores and we often find ourselves putting it off for longer than we should.
But did you know that you need to wash your pillows too?
Just like your sheets, you need to give your actual pillows a clean as well.
While you should wash your sheets every two weeks at least, you can get away with leaving your actual pillows for slightly longer.
However, you definitely need to wash them more frequently than you’re doing it.
Get ready to be shocked.
You should always check the care label on your pillows, but guidelines advise that our pillows should be washed every three to six months.

But don’t worry, you’re not the only one that doesn’t wash your pillows often enough.
A study conducted by - a sleep specialist which creates eco-friendly pillows - has revealed a staggering 41 per cent of Brits questioned have never washed their pillows.
You read that correctly, NEVER.
In the UK - Aberdeen, Swansea and York proved to be the worst culprits, with over 50 per cent of residents admitted to having never washed pillows.
A quarter of Brits confessed that they didn’t know they needed to wash pillows at all.
If it’s been six months or more since you last gave your pillows a clean, it’s time to throw them in the washing machine, asap.
While you sleep, your body sheds thousands of dead skin cells.
These dead skin cells in turn attract dust mites, which produce droppings that contain allergens.
Letting these buildup can trigger anything from asthma to itchy eyes.
Then, on top of this, there’s the sweat and oils from your skin and body that soak through your pillowcase.
So, it’s time to face the music and get your beloved pillows in the washing machine.
