My husband was watching the football when I was in labour – now he’s calling me an a**hole for telling his mum
A NEW mum was left fuming after she was forced to ask her sister to drive her to the hospital when she was in labour because her husband was too busy watching the football.
Taking to Reddit, the disgruntled woman revealed that her husband was now accusing her of being an ‘a**hole’ after she dobbed him into his parents.
She explained in her post that she had given birth ten weeks earlier, and had found the time leading up to her labour extremely challenging.
The mum wrote: “I was experiencing discomfort and wanted my husband by my side when I go into labor but he'd go out every night to hang out at his friend's place and watch football games.”
She suggested that he watch the football games at their own house, but the dad-to-be argued it would disrupt his football rituals.
“The night of our son's birth my water broke while my husband was at his buddies place watching a game,” she said.
“I called him and told him to get home and take me to the hospital he said he was coming but he didn't. I ended up calling my sister (she lives nearby) and she took me to the hospital.
“My husband showed up 2hrs later after he kept calling asking if I was still in labor and that
he was almost done watching the game.
“He was able to make it on time for our son's birth but I was furious with him, mad and disappointed. He apologized profoundly and has been working on regaining my trust and respect for him after what he's done. He's otherwise very supportive and involved in our son's care.”
The mum was prepared to put her husband’s mistake behind her until she went to her in-laws for dinner.
“My husband suddenly started "recalling" what happened that night and basically started lying about driving me to the hospital, waiting and feeling stressed out and standing on his feet for so long without food or even water,” she wrote.
Unsurprisingly, the new mum was quick to jump in and reveal what really happened, leaving her husband to be “berated” by his mum, who described his behaviour as “shameful.”
Finishing her post, the mum said: “He went nuts saying I made him look neglectful, a bad husband and father by telling the family about where he was and said I shouldn't have said anything but I argued it wasn't okay for him to lie and play hero in front of his parents.”

She then asked fellow Redditors whether she was an ‘a**hole’ for calling him out, and the consensus was overwhelmingly in her favour.
Commenting on her post, one wrote: “He looked like a neglectful husband and father because he was being neglectful.”
“This would honestly make me question divorce. This is bad,” agreed another, while a third wrote, “He is not taking full responsibility for his actions.”
