CLEANING the oven is an often tedious task but ignoring it for too long can become a fire hazard. However, there is one trick that could simplify the chore.
There are hundreds of quick-fix remedies advertising themselves to cut oven cleaning in half. In reality, just simply removing the oven door will make the task so much easier.
The quickest way to remove a swinging oven door is to gently slide the door’s hinges off the frame. Doing this will make it so you don’t have to spend hours scrubbing at the appliance.
You might have to unlatch some doors before removing them, however, this easy tip has been proven to work on most ovens.
HOW TO CLEAN AN OVEN WITH A LATCHED DOOR
To clean an oven with a latched door, be sure to open the door all the way and leave it hanging at its lowest point.
Doing this exposes the metal hinges to the rest of the oven and this is works across all latched versions of the appliance.
Now, with the door open, you can easily and safely reach for the latches that lock the hinges in place.
Then, look for the latches along the sides of the door. Oftentimes, they are positioned right on the hinges.

There, you can find the small metal piece on each hinge and push it down as far as it can possibly go.
Be sure to remember two important things when flipping the latches. First, if the latches are in a downward position when opening the door, you might have to flip the latch up to unlock it.

Secondly, if the latch is stuck, you can use a screwdriver to push it down.
Once this is done, you can partially close the door. Keep it steady by evenly positioning your hands on either side of the door.
Carefully, raise it and close the door until it is a third of the way shut. Now, you can lever the door off the hinges.
Make sure to keep your hands in a fixed position to lift the door evenly to get it off the hinges. Then, pull it towards your body to move it away from the appliance and wiggle as needed to jimmy it away.
Once the door is off the hinges, lay it on a flat surface. Now, you can begin cleaning. A simple mixture of white vinegar with cornstarch, baking soda or lemon juice is sure to give the oven a good cleaning.
Let the mixture bubble on the appliance for 20 minutes before wiping it away.
HOW TO REMOVE A LATCH-LESS DOOR
To remove a latch-less oven door, open the door until it’s a quarter of the way down. Make sure your grip is firm so the door doesn’t fall all the way down.
Place your hands on either side of the door and gently remove it from the hinges.
Pull back the door away from the oven while lifting it at the same time. The hinges should slide free from the frame so be sure that you have a good hold on it.
Keeping the door in a fixed position, pull it back at a straight angle to safely clear the door from the oven frame. As with before, set the door aside and clean it as usual.
