Poundland’s £1 engagement rings are back just in time for Valentine’s Day
VALENTINE’S Day is just around the corner and Poundland has brought back its £1 engagement rings just in the nick of time.
The popular budget sparkler allows love birds to pop the question without forking out a small fortune.
The bargain jewellery sparked a debate on social media in 2019, when they launched in time for Valentine's Day.
Although there is nothing stopping couples using the ring as their main proposal ring, the Bling Ring range is being marketed as a placeholder ring.
This helps partners to pick their own engagement ring at a later date if they have a specific design in mind or want to try on a few styles.
The £1 accessories are available in a variety of sizes and colours - including one with a silver band and blue stone.
Another has a gold band with a small diamond-looking gem in it, which is also available in silver.
And they certainly have divided opinion online after being shared on Facebook - with some saying they would be horrified if their partner proposed with one, while others supported the idea.
One said: “I think its an amazing idea. Its not the cost that counts, and not everyone can afford a big fancy ring.
“That's the problem now a days it's all for show, for the photos to post on social media.
“People laughing have forgotten its all about the love.”
Another added: “If they can be loyal with a £1 ring I'm all for it! Better than a cheater with a 2k ring hey.”
However a third wrote: “I don’t think any girl would be thrilled to receive one of these.”
While some thought the cheap jewellery was a great idea, others disagreed and said you shouldn't be able to pick your own engagement ring.
According to Poundland, 20,000 rings were sold in one week in 2019.
