My dad’s girlfriend announced she’s wearing a cream dress to my wedding, I will ban her if she shows up looking like me
A BRIDE-TO-BE has threatened to uninvite her father's girlfriend after finding out she's planning to wear an off-white silk dress to her wedding.
The infuriated woman took it to Reddit's AITA (Am I the A**hole) section where she was seeking advice from fellow readers.
According to the bride, she had been scrolling on Instagram when she suddenly stumbled across a photo posted by her dad's girlfriend of three years.
In the snap, was an off-white silk slip dress and a matching blazer, alongside hashtags #acciowhiskeysourandfianceswedding and #treatingmyself.
''There was no mistaking what the dress was for.

''I was livid,'' said the bride-to-be, who then showed it to everyone she was with that day and, according to her, they were all surprised by this choice of outfit.
Although, after a brief exchange of messages, the girlfriend claimed the dress would be beige in colour, rather than cream, the woman explained she would find it awkward if the two looked so similar.
''I’ve told her I’m not comfortable with her wearing that dress to the wedding and IF she showed up wearing it, she would be asked to go change before coming in.''

The fuming bride also added that despite the girlfriend's claims that she wasn't aware there was a dress code, she has asked her to pick something else.
''I have no ill will for this woman, she and my dad have been dating for 3+ years now and I know she makes him happy.
''Obviously we aren’t best friends, but I normally don’t have any problems with her.
''We’re just not seeing eye to eye on this situation.''
Amongst fellow Redditors, the collective opinion was that the bride-to-be was not the a**hole in the situation.
''Everyone knows that you don’t wear white/colours close to white to a wedding when you aren’t the bride,'' explained one.
A second user agreed: ''They should be aware that showing up in an off-white dress to their boyfriend’s daughter’s wedding is a very.. strange look, at best.
''If they can’t respect that, then it opens questions up about what other boundaries they won’t respect down the road.''
Someone else made a suggestion: ''Don't uninvite her, you just need to get a special friend to accidentally spill red wine all over her when she arrives.''
''You are so far within your bounds to ask her to not wear white, beige or blush to the wedding, and she's just a piece of work if she does it anyway,'' read another supportive comment.
