Most popular baby names for each region revealed – and there’s one that’s a favourite in the North AND South
BEFORE settling on a name for your new bundle of joy, it's probably a good idea to do a quick-run through of people in your life - you know, to make sure you haven't accidentally paid tribute to a second cousin twice removed or old school pal.
But did you know you can also check which names are popular in your region too?
Last October, the Office of National Statistics revealed the Top 100 baby names in the UK.
Alongside this, they also unveiled a which allows you to find out how popular your chosen moniker is in your area too.
It automatically compares how the name you're searching performed next to the UK's favourite monikers Oliver and Olivia - which came out top in 2019 too.
Although Olivia took first place overall, this doesn't mean it was the favourite in every region.

As recently found, the North West currently has the highest concentration of baby girls called Olivia.
However, the name Amelia - which took second place in 2020 - was actually found to be more popular in certain areas of both the North AND South.

According to the ONS tool, five out of 202 babies [2.5 per cent] were called Amelia in North Yorkshire district of Richmondshire.
What's more, it also proved popular in Winchester - where 2.3 per cent of babies were called Amelia over the 1.8 per cent named Olivia.
Amelia knocked Olivia off first place in London and the West Midlands too.
As for boys, the name Arthur trumped Oliver in the Northern districts of Craven and South Lakeland as well as North Devon too.
