I’m a money-saving mum and I created a dinosaur bedroom for my kids for under £60 using B&Q and B&M bargains
IF YOU want to transform your child’s bedroom but on a budget, then listen up.
One mum-of-two gave her boys’ bedroom the ultimate makeover, but spent less than £60 doing so.
Dione White, 24, from Great Yarmouth, wanted to create an amazing dinosaur room for her two boys, but didn’t want to spend a fortune.
By building her own panelling using supplies from B&Q, Poundland and B&M, and by accessorising with budget materials from Wilko, she managed to give her sons the room of their dreams for under £60.
Dione told money-saving Facebook group : "I came up with the idea by using Pinterest and sketching out my vision before going ahead with the decorating.
"To do the panelling I watched YouTube tutorials and then I initially drew out plans and measured the wall to work out my placement and to make sure I got even gaps between the panels.
“I then drew guides on the walls to get the placement right.
"I used half a sheet of MDF from B&Q that was cut in store for free into 10cm wide strips and their own brand adhesive to stick the panels to the walls.

“Once dry I caulked and filled any gaps.
"I used Johnstone’s Amphibious green for the panelling and the dinosaur stickers came from Wilko and are very realistic and good quality.
"I chose to use wall stickers so they are easy to remove and change when my boys grow older.
"I also use under bed storage boxes for all their toys to keep the room clutter free.
"I went for simple white furniture and bedding to complete the room whilst adding green soft furnishings to complete the look.
“I always recommend white bedding as it creates a hotel-like feel.
"I also added some artificial grass to the top of the chest of drawers and this created such a cool effect and a nice little place for my boys to role play with their dinosaur toys.”

“The filler and caulk cost £1 each from Poundland.

“It cost £58.50 for the decor including the panelling."
Dione is renting her home but takes pride in making it look fabulous.
She explained: "I feature all of my budget DIY tips on my Instagram .
"I always make sure to do things in small steps to ensure my health isn’t affected too much, as I have ME and fibromyalgia.
"I take pride in making my rented house a home for my family, and try to make the best of what we’ve got.
“I do all of my rooms on a tight budget, and I never usually spend more than £50 doing each room.
"I shop around for the best deals and do it all myself, I see all of these beautiful homes on social media and always wanted to have that so I found a way of recreating expensive looks at a fraction of the cost!”
