Posting the hack online, Lorrie explained that the shelves have a special device designed to pull items forward.

The 33-year-old joked that she couldn't believe she had gone this long without knowing the hack and wondered if she was the only one not to know about it.

Lorie shared a video of her using the device in Tesco, pulling forward a bottle of wine and a bottle of water.

Impressed and shocked by her discovery, she wrote: PSA - I can't be the only person to have reached 36 and didn't know about this hack of pulling bottles forward?

"No more scaling the shelves to reach the top."

When Lorrie couldn’t reach the bottle of chardonnay on the top shelf, her partner Tom shared a secret trick: pull on the shelf separator to edge the product forward.

The mum added: "My other half told me he saw a lady do it, so I thought I’d try as the wine I liked was too far back,’ said Lorrie.

"I showed my friends and all think it’s brilliant.

"My tip is to pull it slowly so the bottle doesn’t tip forward. You don’t want to waste wine!"

Almost nine thousand people liked the post and five thousand commented on how shocked they were this hack existed.

Before you get too excited though, not all supermarkets have these shelf separators.

Plus, you’ll need to be able to reach the end of the separators to pull them out. So for the top shelf, shorter people still might struggle and may need to ask an employee for assistance.

In related news, I work in retail & I’m sick of people trying to get refunds on clothes they’ve clearly worn or asking for freebies.

Also I work in retail & 5 things we are sick of – including people asking for discounts because they dated the owner’s cousin.

Meanwhile, I work in a supermarket and all customers say the same stupid thing at the checkout – along with other annoying things.
