Cleaning fans are raving about how shaving foam is the secret to leaving sofas and carpets ‘like new’ within minutes
WE dread to think about how many hours we spend on the sofa every year - so over time, it's obviously going to start showing some wear and tear.
In the past, our first course of action has been to scrub at dirty patches with stain remover and hoping for the best.
But it turns out, shaving foam could be the secret to making our settees and carpets look as good as new again in no time.
Earlier this month, a member of a Facebook cleaning group asked for help tackling the build-up of grime on the armrest of their armchair.
After hundreds of members recommended the unlikely cleaning hack, the user was sceptical at first - but thought it was worth it a try.
Sharing amazing before-and-after photos, they wrote: "I am so impressed, thank you for the shaving foam recommendation!

"I used a brush first to break down the dirt then put shaving foam all over it on dry fabric.
"I will admit I left it for over an hour as I got sidetracked then used a warm damp cloth to wipe it all over (with a bit of elbow grease behind it) and voila! Chair like new!"

So how does it work? Well according to the foam's thick consistency helps it seep into the material and draw out any lingering grease.
The post racked up over 5,000 "likes" - and unsurprisingly, members were similarly stunned by how well it worked.
One gushed: "Wow! I would never have believed that SHAVING FOAM could have achieved that kind of result. Excellent!"
Another added: "I have chenille sofas, I'm definitely going to try this, I cant make them any worse than they are already."
Meanwhile, a third gushed: "It works on carpets too!"
