I’m a mum-of-one & people say I’m a bad mum because of my face tattoos, I don’t care – they boost my confidence

A YOUNG mum has faced criticism over her parenting by strangers who assume she is criminal because of her face tattoos.

Luna Bingham, 23, has the word ‘demon’ inked above her brow, an axe, trident, cobweb and three-month-old daughter Paisley’s name tattooed on her face.

The heavily tattooed mum-of-one, who works in sales, says strangers often assume she is an ex-con and brand her a ‘bad mum’.

Luna, who lives in Ashford, Kent, said: “I’m not naive and I know that facial tattoos are often associated with prison.

“I have been asked ‘how long did you spend inside’ and my parenting skills have been criticised by strangers online.

“Tattoos have got a stigma and people can’t oversee it.

“I receive negative backlash daily online but thankfully, I have a thick skin.

"Some people have suggested I am abusive.

"It is frustrating because I’ve always wanted to be a mum and I have always known I would be a good mum.

"I can’t prove to the world I’m a good mum by taking one look at me."

Luna is now trying to change people's opinions on tattoos on social media.

The mum admits tattoos have giving her a boost in confidence and is covered head to toe, minus her back.

She adds: “From a young age, I knew I wanted to be heavily tattooed.

“They are addictive and bring me so much confidence as they are helping me feel like the person I was always meant to be.

“I see tattoos as a form of expression.

“What is on my skin doesn’t make me a bad parent.”

Over 50 per cent of Luna’s body is covered with ink making her the centre of attention when out in public.

She said: “People stare a lot but I am used to it now so it doesn’t bother me.

“My partner Jim Head, 29, who is a van driver, has a lot of tattoos too.

“So trolls online assume we are going to try and push our lifestyle onto Paisley.

“It is a rude assumption and completely inaccurate.

“She may grow up to dislike tattoos and that is fine, but if she does want them then I will help her find a reputable artist.

“My main priority as a mum is making sure she is happy and doing what she loves.”
