They continue: "Products with high acidic values are usually effective, but you should avoid spraying them directly on soil as substances like vinegar can break down the soil structure and kill them.”
Vinegar can be used on its own or diluted with water, however, be cautious if using it on weeds alongside plants you want to keep alive.
Simply spray it on the weed, focusing on the stem.
The experts warn it will kill anything it touches, therefore it's best used on patios or gravel.
Not only this, but it can also prevent future growth in areas it's applied.
Another product that works best on weeds growing in gravel or on patios is baking soda.
Sprinkle a teaspoon on the plant, focusing on the stem, to draw out moisture and dry out the weed.
But as baking soda can also damage grass and other plants it's best to be used tackling weeds sprouting from hard surfaces.
Salt is another natural household item that can help keep weeds at bay.
The experts add: “Salt has been used as a herbicide and pesticide for hundreds of years and is very effective."
You can make a solution by mixing three parts of water with one part of salt until the salt has dissolved.
