Fizzy clean

I’m a cleaning expert and Coke isn’t just for drinking – three ways to use it as a cleaning ingredient around your house

COCA-COLA isn't just a sweet, fizzy drink.

Thanks to its powerful bubbles, a can of Coke can go a long way as a cleaner in your home.

there are three ways you can use the sweet drink to clean up your home.

USE COKE TO CLEAN YOUR TOILET

Toilets are easily one of the germiest things in your home, so you may think bleach or a handful of chemicals would be the best to clean them.

But a can of Coke will do the trick, too.

Simply pour the soda around the rim of the toilet bowl and scrub away the grime.

If you prefer not to scrub, you can even let the Coke soak in the bowl for up to six hours, flush, then you'll be left with a sparkling clean toilet.

USE COKE TO CLEAN YOUR ELECTRIC KETTLE

Cleaning a kettle can be as simple as pressing a button with a can of Coke.

All you have to do is empty the can into the kettle and bring it to a boil for five minutes.

Pour out the soda and your kettle will be shining like new.

USE COKE TO CLEAN OFF RUST

A common science experiment in school is to see how a dirty penny comes out after a dip in some cola.

The penny always comes out sparkling, and that's because a chemical reaction occurs with the removing all of the rust.

The same experiment can be applied to anything covered in rust.

Simply dip your rusty item in Coke for about 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse clean.

The rinsed-off Coke should reveal a sparkling new surface.

You can even see how the Coke trick is done for yourself – one cleaning fan used Diet Coke to make her grubby, burnt-on oven trays sparkling.

Another video revealed how you can use Coca-Cola to remove burnt-on grease from frying pans.
