AS THE sun comes out, it's time to start working on your garden and your lawn to get it ship shape for summer.
If you're worried about getting the grass green and lush, then these pro tips from a gardening expert should help you get on top of your outdoor space.
Expert Alex Shoemaker shared his handy hacks for getting your garden in great condition.
First up he suggested that you can get fertiliser to the base of dense bushes with a length of PVC.
He explained you can slide it into the base of the plant and pour the fertiliser into the pipe.
Next up he suggested using your left over plastic berry cartons to seed the lawn as he said they are perfect for tossing the seeds.

For those with an acid soil with a low pH, it can be hard to grown more sensitive plants and flowers like geraniums.
The pro suggested sprinkling some baking soda over the soil and watering it well before you plant anything.

This will neutralise the acid in the ground and raise the pH level and it won't cost anywhere near as much as the pricey products you can buy in the shops.
If you want an easy way to start your seeds from growing you'll need to save your loo paper and the cardboard tubes.

He suggested cutting the tubes to two inches and setting them in a waterproof tray.
Next you would need to fill up the tubes with potting soil and plant the seeds.

Once the seedlings have grown enough to plant them in the garden there's no need to take them out of the tube before planting them.
The card will decompose in the soil but make sure you tuck them below the soil surface so they don't take moisture away from the roots of the plants.
