PRINCE Harry wants to prove he is better than William with a "nonsense" claim he is the Queen's closest confidante, a royal expert said.

And the Duke of Sussex may keep attacking his brother and dad to feel superior to them, royal biographer Angela Levin added.

It comes after he told NBC's Hoda Kotb that he has a "special relationship" with Her Majesty, who "talks about things she can't talk about with anyone else".

Ms Levin said: "That's nonsense.

"He's saying he gets on with the Queen better than anyone else because she will say things to him she would not say to anyone else.

"She would say these things to Prince Philip.

"He's saying it in a way that meant he is superior to everyone else in his close relationships. If he meant it, why has he hurt her so much?"

She added that people have different relationships with different people and that there will be topics she does not discuss with him.

But she said Prince Harry is determined to prove himself with the Invictus Games and aims of making the world a better place, adding: "He's always been under William. He's always been second in line.

"It's very, very hard for the spare.

"He's now trying to prove that he is super strong and he is better and working for the world and better than William.

"It's always about the global with Harry. It's all about proving himself."

And she said he may keep on attacking them to "feel more superior to them", adding she is concerned about him attending the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Harry also insisted his and wife Meghan Markle's focus has remained the same and that nothing has changed with their commitment to service.

Angela Levin said: "Everything's changed. It's a nonsense. He's cut off his family.

"He's not a member of the royal family now be he's hanging onto his royal title in a way that makes a nonsense of him saying nothing's changed."

Earlier today she said Harry's claim he is protecting the Queen is "a gross insult".

She added: "His arrogance knows no bounds."

TalkTV host Piers Morgan, 57, also slammed Prince Harry's claim because he lives 6,000 miles away and is writing an explosive tell-all book on Royal life.

Prince Harry initially refused to say if he missed Princes William and Charles, insisting his focus was on ensuring everyone at the Invictus Games had the best time before going back to his family who he missed.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said, while Prince Harry seemed the most confident and relaxed than in any other interview, it shows there is still a deep rift.

He added: "There's a long way to go. But if there's to be a healing, the Jubilee years give an opportunity.

"It's a unique royal occasion. It's a very good opportunity to heal the relationships."

But he said there is no guarantee and it is not definite that the Queen will ever get to meet great granddaughter Lilibet, despite Harry insisting he is doing all he can to bring his kids over.

Prince Harry also said he is unsure if he will come to his grandmother's jubilee, citing security concerns.

It came after The Sun revealed Harry and Meghan have been invited to join the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
