I’m a gardening expert – Here’s how to grow the tastiest tomatoes

That's because they are often picked while still green, so they can be transported across the world.

Luckily, gardening experts over at the explain how to grow them in your garden and ensure they are tasty, big and that you have plenty to go around.

They said: "Much of the final tomato flavour you get depends on when and where you grow your tomatoes, as well as which variety you choose."

If you prefer a sweeter taste, your best option is to grow cherry or plum tomatoes.

The experts added: "Unlike larger, beefsteak tomatoes, it's the smaller cherry and plum varieties which are usually the sweetest.

“The care you provide while growing is important too, which will both improve the flavour and increase tomato yield.”

Tomato seeds are best sown between the months of February and April, so it's time to get started now if you want to collect your goods in July.

The number of daylight hours a tomato gets is more important to boosting yield than heat, they add.
