CLEANING the oven is a task most homeowners dread and put off for weeks.

But thankfully mums have have come to the rescue once again by sharing their simple oven cleaning hack.

Taking to Mumsnet, many mums revealed that a dishwasher tablet is the perfect way to clean off grim and grease in no time.

According to them, lots of specific oven cleaning products fail to do the trick.

Many claimed that by wetting a dishwasher tablet and rubbing it on the door cleans the grease off.

The hack works because dishwasher tablets are designed to cut through tough grease on plates and crockery.

So it makes sense that they would do the same on an oven surface.

Dishwasher tablets can remove baked-on food, which is what oven stains are.

Powder tablets also have an abrasive surface too which helps scrub off stubborn stains without causing scratches.

And some even said it can help get gunk off your iron too.

Many mums on the thread agreed, one wrote: "I wet a dishwasher tablet and rub it on the glass door – it cleans all the grease off.

"Wipe off the residue with a damp cloth, then dry. Incidentally, if you get gunk on your iron, iron a dishwasher tablet to clean that too."

"We tried it and it was amazing. The stuff just came off. Also takes the gunk off the kitchen cupboards and tiles next to the hob. I’ve been wondering round the kitchen with a tab wondering what else it will clean." Commented another user.
