I’m a behavioral expert – what your nervous ticks reveal about your personality

DO you bite your nails, tap your foot when nervous, or rub your face constantly?

Well, apparently all of these nervous ticks, or “body-focused repetitive behaviors” as scientists call them, speak loudly about who you are as a personality.

In a study published in the Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, according to , researchers analyzed people’s personalities and what they did in different types of situations.

While filming them in a situation that was extremely frustrating, relaxing, or boring, they looked for unconscious body movements that could pop up.

According to their findings, people who tug on their hair or bite their nails aim for perfection.

Their actions were deemed as self-soothing.

They want to avoid showing that they are bored, irritated, or dissatisfied with whatever is happening around them.

The ticks feel better doing instead of nothing because repetitive behavior proves comforting.

Previously, experts had revealed that your handwriting can also reveal what type of person you are.

SIZE

However, those with small handwriting are introverted and are capable of intense concentration.

TILT

If you write with a slight right slant, you're most likely very friendly yet impulsive.

A tilt to the left means you're reserved and individualistic, while no slant means you're logical and pragmatic.

PRESSURE

Handwriting with heavy pressure indicates you have strong emotions and are quick to react, while light pressure implies an easiness and ability to move from place to place.
