I’m an interior decorator & here are the trends that make living rooms look dated – it’s bad news if you hate colour
THE past few years, it feels like we can't open any social media platform without being inundated with photos of other people's super minimal living rooms.
You know what we're talking about - plush grey sofas, crisp white throws and neutral soft furnishings.
Well if you've bought into this trend in a big way, then we're afraid we have some bad news.
Speaking to , celebrity interior designer Nina Takesh said minimal living rooms are very much on their way out of fashion.
She explained: "Instead, we're seeing people drawn much more to soft, warmer neutral colour palettes and cozier pieces.
"I think a lot of this is due to how our world has changed as a reaction to the pandemic.

"That cold, white, hyper-modernism aesthetic can feel somewhat clinical or sterile in a way, whereas softer neutrals feel much more inviting and rejuvenating for our interior spaces."
On top of this, interior decorator Doniphan Moore argued that people are now leaning towards showing their "individual style" at home rather than going minimal.
What's more, Katelynn Ostruszka - a principal decorator at Katelynn Scott - said open-plan living spaces are also set to become a thing of the past now that more people are working from home.
Instead, the expert predicted that more people will be trying to separate their living areas so they serve a function.

So what trends are on the rise instead? Well, Mary Patton says pastels are coming back around in a big way - specifically blush pinks.
She added: "Dare I say, grey is over and colour is in.
"Pastels are a great way to stay a bit more traditional in living rooms without overdoing it."
And if you're really not ready to say goodbye to your neutral palette, designer Lance Thomas said chocolate brown tones can be a great middle-ground.
