I was maid of honor at my twin sister’s wedding and she’s furious I left after two hours – but I think I had good reason

THE maid of honor at her twin's wedding said her sibling is fuming after she left just two hours into the event - but she insists that her reason was more important than her sister's big day.

The woman made an about an incident on Reddit's AITA page under the username TASisterWedding.

She shared how she attended her twin's wedding Friday but had been forced to leave when her son suffered a head injury.

But she said her sister did not understand and was furious that she'd "abandoned" her on her wedding day.

The twin started sharing what happened at her sister's wedding by saying that she's very close to her sister "and best friends."

"She is child-free and I have 2 kids," she said.

Her children are two boys aged three months and one month old.

"Obviously she loves her nephews, she never mistreated them, but she is not a person who would accept being a babysitter for a day," she said in the post.

"She has never offered to help with anything, though it's her choice and I respect it."

The wedding was reportedly child-free "even for the family."

So while she attended as part of her sister's wedding party, as her maid of honor, her two children stayed with their paternal grandparents.

"I was responsible for a few things at the ceremony and party, nothing complex," she said. "But I asked another bridesmaid for help, so she was also on top of everything."

Leaving the wedding

About two hours into the wedding she said she got a call from her in-laws.

She said they called "saying that my youngest hit his head while playing with my oldest and that they were taking him to the hospital."

"I despaired, even though they said he was conscious, my heart was not at peace nor my husband's, so we decided to go to the hospital."

After explaining what her duties were to the bridesmaid to whom she delegated her duties, she went to let her sister know that she was leaving.

"When it was time to talk to my sister, she had a meltdown saying that I couldn't go at the most important moment in her life," The post said.

The bride asked her sister if she was choosing her son over her, according to the post.

"I got really irritated and said 'Yes, I choose my son in the hospital.' I left with her cursing me."

Her son turned out to be fine. She said he had no internal trauma but did have to get two stitches.

The aftermath

After time at the hospital with her son while her phone was off, she said she came home to receive lots of calls from various people "and I answered when I saw my sister's."

The twin sister asked how her nephew was and apparently got pretty upset when she learned that he had a minor injury.

"She started screaming saying that I abandoned her at the most important moment in her life and that she was without a family in her own marriage (no parents and grandparents)," she said.

"I left my responsibilities to a person who did everything wrong and caused an embarrassment and to make matters worse, I didn't even want to show up since my husband could stay in the hospital."

Her sister called her several names while yelling at her over the phone about leaving the wedding, she said.

"Until my husband took the cell phone out of my hand and told her to f*ck off.";

The post went on to say that she, in fact, could have made her sister's party "but I wasn't going to make it knowing my baby is in the hospital. I can't help but feel bad for my sister."

She asked if she was in the wrong in the situation and Reddit responses poured in.

Someone quoted a statement in her post "…she started screaming saying that I abandoned her…" and added "She rather have you leave your child abandoned to stay with this grown woman? [She's in the wrong!]"

"To quote my boss (literally 3 hours ago), 'If your family had a problem and you weren't distracted by it, I'd think less of you,'" another comment said.

Another person added: "I guess I’m the only person who doesn’t see stitches and a concussion as a minor injury. I mean, it could have been life-threatening!"
