The medical reason Kim Kardashian always has bare, short nails while her sisters prefer long talons
LONG, pointed, colorful nails have become a staple in the Kardashian family – but not for one sister.
While Khloe and Kylie often sport what can only be characterized as their "Kardashian claws," Kim's nails remain bare, and there's a medical reason why.
Between ruby red talons and rainbow french tips, Khloe and Kylie have a new set of acrylics for almost every episode of The Kardashians on Hulu.
Wearing inch-long nails isn't an issue for these trendy sisters, even as they carry out their motherly duties.
On the other hand, the two eldest sisters don a more natural look.
In Kourtney's case, short and simple could be her preferred nail choice. But for Kim, it's not as much of an option.

In an interview with , Kim mentioned the impracticality of having long nails as a law student.
"I can't do long nails," she openly expressed.
Even though she says having nails like her sisters' elicits a new attitude and confidence boost, she can't get them again.

Kim's psoriasis diagnosis is to blame.
At age 25, Kim began battling psoriasis after she experienced her first flare-up caused by a "common cold."
According to the , psoriasis is an autoimmune condition that "causes patches of thick red skin and silvery scales on the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, face, palms, and soles of feet."
"One night, I woke up to use the restroom and I physically couldn’t pick up my phone," Kim admitted.
"I had psoriatic arthritis. It’s similar to arthritis that can stem from psoriasis and it can come and go."
The material or adhesive used to secure artificial nails can likely cause a flare-up.

"Acrylic nails can be particularly damaging. Because of how they’re applied," the article stated.
Although this would be more of an issue for Khloe and Kylie, it's sad to know the style queen can't hop on the talon trend anymore.
