The product has been so popular that Lakeland has limited purchases to just two per household.

In the description for the drying pod, they write: "Getting your clothes dry much faster than most electric clothes airers, and far more gentle on fabrics than the rough and tumble of a conventional tumble dryer, the pod has a fan built into the base that heats air up to 70°C and then blows it up into and dries your clothes."

Journalist Emma Gill was lucky enough to get her hands on one, and told the that she was thrilled with how well it dried her clothes.

"I put one load of laundry in it, including thicker jogging bottoms, school trousers and even jeans, and in two hours they were dry," she said.

"There was the odd little damp patch when I turned the fan off, but the room then stayed warm enough to finish them off completely in about half an hour."

She also found an added bonus to the pod.

"It makes the room you're using it in warm too," she explained.

"Within minutes of it being on I had to take my jumper off as I was getting too hot - a rarity these days, but I wasn't complaining."

She used the pod for two hours, which cost her 60p on her current tariff, so it worked out at30p an hour.

People were equally positive about the pod in the reviews on Lakeland's website.

"I wash daily as I have kids that play a lot of sports," one wrote. "Not only does it dry lightweight items quickly but it warms my house, makes the house smell lovely plus comes out uncreased so I don't need to iron and can hang straight in to the wardrobe.

"One of the best things I have bought!"
