I was friends with Princess Diana – here’s how she reacted when Harry asked about Camilla… The Crown got it wrong
PRINCESS Diana told a young Harry "ask Papa" when he quizzed her about who Camilla was, her pal has claimed.
The mum is said to have been sitting with her sons Harry and William as they watched Monarchy - The Nation Decides - as the future of the Royals was debated about 25 years ago.
And Richard Kay claims one question was whether Camilla Parker Bowles could ever be Queen, sparking a reaction from then 12-year-old Harry.
Writing in the , Kay claims Harry asked "Who's Camilla?"
While William, who would then have been 14, is said to have "sniggered", Diana quickly said "Right, bedtime".
But Kay claims she then added: "You will have to ask Papa (Prince Charles) about her."

The family scenes have been highlighted in the latest series of The Crown - with Kay saying the show has got key details wrong.
He pointed out the Netflix series only shows Diana watching the programme by herself.
In the series, the princess, played by Elizabeth Debicki, is also seen voting "no" repeatedly when the crowd is asked "Do we need a Royal Family".
Kay said: “The absence of these details seems bizarre,” saying The Crown “prides itself on its attention to detail” and “boasts of its authenticity.”

However, he suggests the details may have been left out as an “unexpected show of deference” to the young princes who were only 14 and 12 at the time.
He also speculates that the “more likely reason” was that by bringing the princes into the narrative it would “muddy the waters” of the storyline which he says uses Diana “as the insurgent battling the spiteful and entitled snobbery of the family she married into”.
Camilla was named Queen Consort this year after the death of Elizabeth II.
