However, one ex-Tesco employee has revealed it isn't all bad, as they look back on some of the best and worst parts of serving customers.

Speaking to the , the anonymous worker shared some of the most annoying things about their job and why employees hate the self-checkout service even more than customers do.

The employee's first grievance is when customers are expecting them to open the doors before the shop opens.

They said: "I know it's three minutes until we open, but I can't unlock the doors just because you're standing there

But what the ex-employee would have really liked to have said is: "You're early, that's great. But unfortunately, when we open at 7am, that means 7am.

"I'm sorry if it's raining, or you're cold. But looking at me with a face like thunder isn't going to speed this process up."

Another pet peeve is when customers think huffing and puffing in the queue will make them work quicker.

They added: "I'm not deliberately going slow - it's just busy in here."

And employees always hate asking for ID, especially when they find out the customer is way over the age limit.

But one pro is that the Tesco fleece is super comfortable and warm to wear, especially in the winter months.

The ex-employee added that nobody likes to be the person putting yellow stickers on food items as customers surround them to try and fight for a bargain.

Disappointingly, the employees also don't receive a free meal deal for their lunch break.

And the ex-shop attendant revealed they often knock off 10% just to avoid any drama.

They added: "The last box of 10-pack fish fingers has been opened - it's probably just a damaged box but hey, I'll knock 10 percent off to avoid the drama."

While many customers seem to think it's okay to have a go at employees about the cost of carrier bags, it's definitley not their fault.

They explained: "Rolling your eyes when a customer blames Tesco for the 5p plastic bag charge - I'm all for saving the planet, but don't take it out on the messenger."

While you may have thought employees never notice you on your weekly food shop, it turns out they do.

Despite serving hundreds of customers a day, the employee revealed they can spot their regulars a mile off.

And finally, the ex-Tesco worker shared that the employees hate the self-service checkouts way more than customers.

They said: "I hate the self-service tills more than you, and impatiently waving your product in front of the scanner isn't going to make my life any easier.

"I hold the power to unlock these bad boys, and the red light flashing above you has already told me you need my help."
