Harry alleges William "grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor" in an extract of the book.

Harry, 38, claims he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

Now, in a newly-released clip from ITV's forthcoming interview with Harry, the duke said his brother was so frustrated during the incident which reportedly took place in 2019, he saw "the red mist in him".

He added: "He wanted me to hit him back, but I chose not to."

MORE ON HARRY

In the clip, released early on Friday morning, Harry tells Tom Bradby: "What was different here was the level of frustration, and I talk about the red mist that I had for so many years, and I saw this red mist in him."

In his memoir Harry says William was already "piping hot" when he arrived wanting to talk about their deteriorating relationship.

According to Harry, it turned into a shouting match as William complained about his wife Meghan, calling her "rude" and "abrasive".

William insisted he was trying to help.

The Duke of Sussex responded: "Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”

Harry claims he then poured William a glass of water and said: "Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this."

He then says his brother called him "another name" and then "came at me".

Harry claims: "It all happened so fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.

"I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

He says William told him to hit him back but he refused, and so his brother left "looking regretful, and apologised".

William then told his brother not to tell Meghan about the confrontation, according to Harry.

The explosive revelations in Harry's book include:

The short clip from the ITV interview, which is due to be aired on Sunday, also had Harry addressing the drug use detailed in Spare.

Mr Bradby tells the duke: "There's a fair amount of drugs (in the book). Marijuana, magic mushrooms, cocaine. I mean, that's going to surprise people."

The duke appears to agree and says it was "important to acknowledge".

The royal also states he wants to reconcile with his family - something which he says cannot happen without "some accountability".
