Mrs Hinch fans share genius 30p hack to get rid of limescale on your shower window

GETTING rid of limescale from your shower window can be a tough task - but there’s an easy way using an ingredient you can pick up in any supermarket.

Limescale is an issue that plagues many homes and can often cause problems in bathrooms as it builds.

One place this can be highlighted is on the window of your shower if it’s not cleaned regularly.

A fan of Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, gave fellow cleaning whizzes pause for thought after she’d tried various products to remove the limescale from the shower window of someone she cleans for.

On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on , a woman shared her dilemma.

She wrote: “Please help, I've tried vinegar, elbow grease, pink stuff, pure bleach, scourer and a scraper.

“I can not get these hard water stains off the shower glass for the lady I clean for.

“She’s not bothered that I can’t get it off but I’m determined and it’s driving me nuts!” she shared.

Luckily, there were dozens of answers quickly left below, including one brilliant recommendation - lemons.

One user wrote: “What about a lemon?

“Try lemons cut in half,” another said.

A third shared: “Half a Lemon and sugar. I saw a video and he put sugar on the lemon then scrubbed the shower door with it. Wiped it down with paper towels. it was gleaming

“Rub a lemon half over it,” someone else agreed.

Another commented: “I use lemon juice and baking powder mix together to form a paste and scrub it on wit a scouring sponge in small circles..works a treat x.”

Lemon juice is an effective cleaner due to being high in citric acid, which is naturally antibacterial and antiseptic, and also serves as a natural bleach.

The lemon also leaves a nice fresh citrus scent in your bathroom after you’ve finished cleaning, and they cost just 30p in most supermarkets.

Another popular suggestion was Viakal limescale spray, which can be bought in Sainsburys for just £2.

One said: “Spray viakal on and leave it for a while, refreshing after a few minutes. Leave again for a while then go back and wipe that filth off. I hate water/limescale stains. It may need to be done a few time to get it all off but persevere and it will go.

Another shared: “Viakal leave to soak scrub wash off the glass cleaner.”

“Viakal you will probably need to do it more than once and leave it for 10 mins before rubbing and rinsing. Use a cloth and rub pretty hard,” added a third.

The product has five star reviews on the supermarket’s website, reading in the description that it: “Gently removes tough incrustations of limescale, getting rid of dirt and bacteria and leaving only shine.”
