The crafty big cat crept up on an unsuspecting warthog as it grazed the day away in Kruger National Park in South Africa.

At first glance, you may not notice anything more than sunshine and shrubbery in the extraordinary illusion.

But there is in fact a deadly creature vying for an afternoon snack lurking among the undergrowth.

Rodgers Ngomnai captured the incredible moment the leopard geared up to secure its lunch on film.

He was traveling to Lower Sabie when he spotted an excited crowd on the side of the road and decided to take a look for himself.

The 49-year-old admitted he initially struggled to spot the deadly animal himself.

But the leopard soon revealed its vantage point when it emerged from the bushes to ambush the warthog.

The creature proved it is a master of disguise as well as a high-speed hunter in this mind-boggling image.

Rodgers revealed the "lazy" leopard proved too slow for its prey, despite getting in striking distance of its snack.

The warthog managed to scurry away to safety as the animal lagged behind.
