A CLEANING pro has revealed the one place people often forget when checking their washing machines for mould - and how to get it clean in minutes. 

Anita Birges shared that the dispenser drawer is often a hotbed for grime and that using a toothbrush and toothpaste will help you get it looking brand new.

Known online as , she regularly shares cleaning tips and home hacks with her 62,300 followers. 

In a new TikTok reel, she said: “Most people think all of the mould builds up on the rubber seal of the washing machine. 

“They are wrong. You need to check out the dispenser. Have a look at this, okay? 

“You are going to be mortified with what you see in here. 

“Now, it’s a really awkward space to get into, but I have got the best cleaning hack for you, and it’s with things you already have in your home.”

During the one-minute video, Anita goes on to explain how she cleans the small space. 

“Remove the dispenser and soak it in hot water and vinegar for one hour.”

Sharing a shot of the murky water her’s is sitting in, she adds: “This is only after 10 mins! Gross!

“Grab a dish brush, squeeze in a little toothpaste, fill with water and shake it to mix it up. 

“Get in there and give it a good clean. You can also use a toothbrush to get into the smaller crevices. 

“Clean dispenser drawer as well. 

“Rinse with boiling water, wipe down with a microfiber cloth and you are done!

“Clean fresh and mould free!”

Below the video, Anita explained why she opts to use toothpaste rather than other household cleaning sprays and pastes. 

She said: “Toothpaste not only cleans but is also a mild abrasive. The mould comes off easier, especially on those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies.”

Fans loved her quick and easy hack, with the video gaining more than 7,700 likes and 329,600 views. 

In the comments, other TikTok users shared their reactions, with one writing: “LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!”

Others shared their own techniques, with another adding: “After wash keep this open and you will not have a lot mould.”
