I’m a mum in my 50s and hate when people say ‘dress your age’ – fashion is all about confidence, I wear what I want
A MUM has rubbished the suggestion that women should dress their age - and backed people of all ages who choose to to flaunt their figures.
Annette Buchan, 54, has two grown up kids and has always had a passion for fashion.
The glam operations worker, from Sandycroft, Cheshire, has been told that she’s too old to wear her favourite clothes.
But she insists that confidence is sexy no matter how old someone is.
She says: “You should wear what personally you are comfortable and confident with.
“I still like to wear clothes that show off my figure and I am confident and confidence is sexy.
“I still have a good shape and I still like my boobs and yes compliments are always nice as long as they are respectful.
“It has been said that I’m too old and I am like ‘what?’
“I’ll shop where I like. It doesn’t mean I’m getting the latest club dress.
“Once or twice someone may have said that I won’t shop certain places now I’m older, but when I was in my late 20s I met a girl and mother shopping and they said always go the places your daughters go to.

“It kind of stuck I guess. I don’t wear short skirts but these shops have all kind of lengths anyway and there’s nothing wrong with staying current with trends.
“Media dictates how we should look to wear a vest and if our arms don’t look like J-Lo’s that puts women off wanting to wear them.
“Mine don’t look toned but I’ll still wear a vest.”
Annette, who is single, loves feeling sexy and has some suggestions for people who want to share the same confidence.
She adds: “Definitely heels with anything.
“Makeup on with red lips and definitely underwear if in a relationship, I love sexy underwear.
“Anything that shows my figure off but I also like dressing in a sophisticated, classy and confident way.
“I moisturise with L’Oréal and touch of petroleum jelly at night and have dipped my toe in the botox pool just for a little tweak round the eyes trying to age naturally.
“But to be honest I am blessed with good genes.”
