PARENTS of a seaside town have accused developers of “taking the p**s” by turning a toilet block into a holiday let.
Opposers of the development are worried it will cause piles of rubbish dumped on the road.
Despite strong opposition in planning committee meetings, plans to convert the former seaside toilet block in Whitby, North Yorkshire into a holiday let have been approved.
Fuming mums have taken to Facebook to dispute the unusual holiday home.
“Need affordable homes for Whitby people, not more holiday lets,” one mum said.
“When will they listen to the people of Whitby?”

“If you want a holiday let, I’d like a view at least,” another said.
“Much better use as a toilet.”
Other Whitby residents accused developers of “taking the p**s” and moaned that the town doesn’t need another holiday home for tourists.
Back in 2021, the town was named the "staycation capital of the North."

A planning committee meeting on Thursday heard that the building "appears to have minimal facilities".
Among this was no appropriate way to get rid of waste - leaving residents in fear that tourists will dump their rubbish on the street.
Members of Whitby Civic Society said that "rubbish generated will inevitably be placed outside".
Whitby locals were particularly worried about long-stay guests "generating a significant level of refuse", according to .
"It is not compelling that the suggested method for disposal of refuse would be successful", an officer said in Thursday’s meeting.
Previously used as an office, Whitby residents also raised concerns about the conversion meaning the loss of workspace in the small town - which has a population of approximately 13,000.
North Yorkshire Council's planning authority approved the conversion but reportedly won’t allow the building to be used until a waste management plan is in place.
