Cleaning fanatics debate best way to get ink out of clothes – and a 89p trick is said to be best for nightmare stains
EVERYONE knows that annoying feeling of getting a stain on your bright white shirt or sheets.
But it doesn’t mean you should throw it away, or give up on trying to get the stain out.
Cleaning fans have revealed just the trick - and it’s more surprising than you think.
Taking to Facebook, one person asked the Mrs Hinch cleaning fans Facebook page called for some advice in removing ink from their white sheets.
They wrote: “Managed to get some ink on a sheet.
“I’ve tried white vinegar, fairly liquid and vanish. None of them seem to have worked. Does anyone have any other ideas?”

The post attracted lots of attention with many debating over which cleaning hack is the best.
One wrote: “I have it on my work uniform and have tried everything.
“Nothing works to make it fade a little, try sanitiser but with alcohol in it, or nail varnish remover and just dab.”
Whilst someone else suggested: “Try hand sanitiser with alcohol in it.”

A third said: “Soak in milk for a few hours then wash as normal and hang in the sunshine for a few hours.”
There were a few suggestions of using hairspray, which can cost .
A cleaning fan added: “Give it a good soaking spray of hairspray and blot it with a clean cloth.
“Keep doing it, and alcohol that's in the hairspray will break up the ink within the fibres and it will run and release.
“Keep spraying and blotting, and eventually the ink marks will come out.”
To which someone else asked: “Does it work on biro strokes? Thanks as I have some on a duvet cover.
“Even if it’s been washed a few times?”
And they replied: “Yes, it should work, it should work.
“The alcohol that's in the hair spray should break down the ink that's on the fabric.
“The ink seeps down in the fibres of the fabric, which makes it difficult to remove.
“You don't need a fancy hairspray - just a plain inexpensive one.
“Hold the hairspray close to the fabric and give the ink spots a good soaking.
“Be sure to put an old towel or cloth behind the stain to prevent the ink from staining anything that it's touching.
