This sinister fan theory about Christmas film Elf is guaranteed to ruin it for you forever
HERE'S something to ruin festive flick Elf for us forever.
Many Brits will sit down to watch the iconic winter movie, which stars comedy legend Will Ferrell and was even made into a stage musical, on DVD on December 25.
But the innocence of the film's main character Buddy has been brought into question by a cynical user - and his fan theory.
Writing on the social media site, user Batfan54 told how one scene "sticks out like a sore thumb";.
He explains: "About midway through the movie, Buddy hears Zooey Deschanel's character singing from inside the locker room elsewhere in the store.
"He goes to investigate because, well, she's singing a Christmas song and he loves Christmas!
"Turns out that she's actually singing in the shower, and Buddy begins to sing along with her.
"When she notices, she obviously freaks out and yells at Buddy to get out, who immediately clasps his hands over his eyes and makes a mad rush to the door, only to hit a locker.
"But afterwards, Zooey Deschanel confronts Buddy and asks him why he was in the Ladies Locker Room while she was naked in the shower.
"Buddy replies by saying, 'I didn't know you were naked in the shower'. Haha, Elves don't understand showers, Buddy is so innocent! Joke landed.
"Except Buddy does know what a shower is, and he most certainly knew she was naked! We get this scene earlier in the movie, while Buddy is still in the North Pole.
"Buddy might not be the smartest guy, but he most certainly does know what a shower is, and just how naked one has to be to take one.
"So what conclusion are we left to draw?
"Buddy, the sicko as he is, was actually trying to peep on Zooey while she was in the shower, and played his sick fetish off as innocence and just wanted to sing a Christmas song."
The Reddit user then goes on to question several other moments in the film which he claims don't add up, such as when he "brutally injures multiple children on their way home from school", the time he "uses his obsession with 'Syrup' to get horribly s***faced on the job" and when he "uses his so-called innocence to verbally abuse a man with a disability".
Batfan54 concludes: "Buddy is not the man you all thought - he is a demented man-child that's using his 'innocence' to live out sick fantasies of abuse and sexual desire."

He then points out that he was "totally joking" and came up with this radical idea while on the toilet.
But Batfan54, the damage has already been done...
