“After investigation I purchased a Meaco dehumidifier on Tuesday.

“I did [the] washing yesterday but [it] was too late to hang out so I tried my new machine.

“I set up the airer in the small box bedroom, doors closed. Dehumidifier on laundry mode.

“It has a six hour running time. This can be adjusted but I left it by way of experiment.

“There [were] two bath sheets and clothes.”

After just six hours with the dehumidifier on, Catherine claimed: “This morning clothes dry.

“They smell fresh and still of the detergent. So it’s a great job.

“Cost about 40p for the six hours.

“The machine was £149 but so far so good.

“I could only get a 10 litre. The 12 was out of stock everywhere.

“I ordered direct from Meaco on Monday evening [and] it was delivered Tuesday evening.”

Catherine later confirmed: “Been using on and off all weekend. Very impressed.

“Sometimes I just put it in the landing and leave it until the display shows 50-55 to remove the damp air.

“The house feels so much warmer after using the dehumidifier.”

Catherine’s post has clearly impressed many, as it has racked up 278 likes and 94 comments.

One person said: “I got one last week, found it great, will use it from now on.”

Another added: “I bought a Meaco dehumidifier last year and use it both for getting rid of damp and drying laundry. I only ever run it at night as I’m on an economy 7 power tariff.

“It uses very little electricity and does a fantastic job. I also have an electric drying rack (Lakeland DrySoon mini).

“When I use both at the same time I keep the door closed and run the dehumidifier on its lowest setting.”

A third commented: “I have a Meaco, love it.”

Whilst someone else claimed: “The best dehumidifier on the market.”

At the same time, one user claimed: “You have convinced me....just bought one!!!”

Meanwhile, someone else asked: “Is it noisy? I've never had a dehumidifier so I haven't got a clue!”

To this, Catherine replied: “Not really. Has a hum.

“It was in a box bedroom overnight for six hours with [the] door closed and I couldn’t hear it.”

If you fancy trying out a dehumidifier, there’s a variety of different ones available on the market - so if you want a budget buy for under a tenner, or something that’s more of an investment, you’re sure to find something for you.

Catherine’s MeacoDRY ABC dehumidifier would normally set you back £149, but it’s now been reduced to £139.95 if you buy from Meaco directly.

If you fancy getting your hands on this Meaco dehumidifier, you can nab one from a range of high-street stores too, including B&Q and John Lewis

Chris Michael, managing director of , leading UK air treatment specialist, explained that while dehumidifiers can be great to dry your clothes, they can also be beneficial to reducing mould inside your home too.

To understand how to combat mould appearing and spreading, it’s crucial to understand why it appears and what contributes to its growth.

Drying laundry naturally indoors on airers will increase the moisture in the air, which needs to go somewhere. As a result, a dehumidifier is a great option to help reduce the humidity levels at home.

While there is an initial cost, many dehumidifiers are highly energy-efficient, some costing as little as 4p per hour to run.

Using a dehumidifier to dry laundry is more cost-effective than a tumble dryer, which generally costs over £1 per load.

Some dehumidifiers also offer further benefits with built-in air purifiers, providing added value.
