Mum-of-22 Sue Radford shamed for causing horse ‘pain’ after standing on its BACK during 22nd holiday in 22 months
SHE’S enjoying the Dubai sunshine – and we can’t blame her for that.
But now mum-of-22 Sue Radford has found herself in hot water for an activity on her latest vacation.
The mum-of-22 left her brood at home to enjoy an anniversary break in Dubai with husband Noel, with the couple determined to fit in everything they could on the fleeting trip.
One activity saw Sue swimming with the horses, after she enjoyed a beachside ride with the stunning creature.
But it was the apparent acrobatic side of the excursion that raised eyebrows, and saw the matriarch slammed for causing the animal “pain”.
Sue took to the family’s page to share pictures and videos of herself riding the horse, as well as showing the moment she stood up on the horse’s back while it was in the water.
While she has since removed the footage, Sue still found herself criticised for her actions, with one person writing: “Why would you stand on a horse’s back?
“Surely painful for the poor horse?”
The ‘swimming with horses’ activity is offered by many hotels in Dubai, and enjoyed by many tourists during holidays there.
However, it’s not something that animal rights organisation PETA agree with.
“Standing on a horse’s back is not only dangerous for the rider but also immensely uncomfortable for the horse, as the person’s weight is concentrated at two points, which over time can lead to spinal damage,” PETA’s Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen told us in a statement.
Sue and Noel also shared footage from their Dubai break on their page, showing some of the other activities they got up to – including a sand dune buggy trip.
They also rode camels – another activity that sparked controversy in the comments.
“Please don’t support industries which involve animals,” one wrote.
“Can almost guarantee they don’t get a break, been abused and get no water.”
“I don’t approve of using any animal for our entertainment,” another added.
As a third said: “I’m a bit disappointed in you guys riding the camels.
“I thought you two would know better. so much cruelty and neglect behind all that.
“Those animals suffer so much just so tourists can have ‘fun’.”
