Travis Barker’s chosen baby name is ‘way more Kardashian’ than Kourtney’s older kids & bucks current trends, experts say
Experts offered feedback on what the first and middle names might represent
AFTER revealing the name and due date of his and Kourtney Kardashian’s baby boy, experts exclusively revealed what it could mean.
Several experts weighed in on the name with some suggesting that it’s “way more Kardashian” than expected and snubs societal baby name trends.
The Blink 182 drummer spoke on the podcast about the choice and exclusively told The U.S. Sun that the couple plan to name their unborn son Rocky Thirteen.
Travis Barker also shared when Kourtney is due to welcome their baby, which is apparently on Halloween.
consultant claimed that “of all the Kardashian cousins, Kourtney’s children have the most mainstream names, Mason, Penelope, and Reign.”
She added that Barker’s children, Landon and Alabama, also have recognizable names.
According to the expert, Landon, Penelope, and Mason are now top 100 names, but they were named “a long time ago.”
“I think the most notable detail is that Kourtney went way more ‘Kardashian’ with her most recent baby, and will likely select a unique name for this baby,” Colleen said.
Colleen also emphasized that there is greater “pressure and incentive” for high-profile parents to create a name for their celebrity kid that is “unique and showstopping.”
For her, the name Rocky Thirteen has the “perfect amount of celebrity chic,” but still blends well with the names of all of their other children.
Name consultant and author offered her two cents about what the notable moniker could mean.
“Rocky is a very strong, powerful, and masculine-sounding name, and quite the opposite of the current upward trend we are seeing of softer names for boys like Luca, Finley, and Silas,” she said.
She added: “It definitely seems like they wanted a name that says ‘our son is tough and he is not one to be messed with’.”
Steph also joked that the middle name Thirteen made her think of Taylor Swift, but felt it was a good fit for the married couple.
“Personally, I find days of the week, month, and number names to be great choices and the middle spot is a perfect place for it,” she said.
editor-in-chief Sophie Kihm was also in favor of the first and middle names.
She said: “Rocky Thirteen could be the perfect baby name for Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker.”
She agreed they matched the Kardashians’ “nouveau word names like Psalm, Dream, and Chicago.”
Barker said it’s his favorite number, but it is also a “one-of-a-kind middle name that adds some edge to the more mainstream name Rocky,” she claimed.
She added: “13 is considered to be very unlucky in many Western cultures. That makes it an alternative, counter-culture choice, which feels apt for the child of a rock-and-roll drummer.”
Barker has also connected the name to the Rocky franchise starring Sylvester Stallone, and to his favorite guitarist, Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies.
“All of these connections give the name Rocky a musical, masculine image,” the editor claimed.
In addition, Sophie said: “The connections with the classic film Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the spooky, superstitious nature of the number 13 give this name extra resonance at the end of October.”
With a due date of Halloween and an expected arrival sometime within the first week of November, Rocky Thirteen seems opportune for their family and the fall season.
We won’t know for certain what the child’s name is until the parents officially announce his birth, but that won’t stop people from wondering in the meantime.
