I felt lost on major reality TV show so reinvented myself – now I’m my own boss with my cosmetics company
A FORMER Geordie Shore star admitted she felt “lost and confused” after her time on the hit reality show.
Roxy Hamedi, 29, thought her moment in the telly spotlight was going to be her chance to find herself and shine.
That never happened and she admitted she had to battle her own expectations and the fake world of celebrity and social media.
But she’s now bounced back by launching her own range of cosmetics, , and reckons she’s finally on the way to the big time.
Roxy said: “Straight after Geordie Shore I did struggle for a little bit.
“Like most people who have done reality TV for the first time I felt lost and confused with where I was heading.
“The pressures of staying ‘relevant’ and not feeling ‘good enough’ after comparing myself to inauthentic people and unrealistic expectations on social media stole my joy.”
Roxy, from Aberdeen, was a qualified pharmacist but ditched her job, and defied her strict parents, for telly stardom.
She applied to an ad on social media and before long was on a £500 taxi ride to appear on the series.
The year she appeared had a dating angle and she thought she’d found love with original Geordie Shore star James Tindall.

But that fell apart very quickly after the pair left the cameras behind.
Roxy said: “I believed I was in a relationship.
“I had to come to terms with being lied to on TV and then him cutting me off completely.
“I had to pick up the pieces myself and so I went back to my normal life of being a pharmacist again in London.”
Roxy got her head down which helped her come up with ideas for her business.
A Selfish Soul is a range of cruelty free and vegan cosmetics made in the UK.
She just launched a new product called Browtasia, designed to nourish skin as well as boost wearer’s confidence.
To celebrate, Roxy held a lavish event in Manchester, which was attended by Geordie Shore and Married at First Sight stars.
She’s also fallen for someone else and is madly in love.
Roxy said: “I am certain that I am on the right track to where I am meant to be.”
Despite the pitfalls and setbacks she confessed that she has no regrets about going on Geordie Shore.
She said: “I’m glad I did it. I was naive, but that turned out in my favour. I probably wouldn’t have made it to the end if I wasn’t.

“If anything it has made me even more resilient as a person.
“Having that publicity has certainly helped with my cosmetics business. There is always a silver lining.”
