How to calculate holiday entitlement and DOUBLE your annual leave in 2018 by using these key bank holiday dates

You'd better get in there before your colleagues if you want to make the most of the 2018 golden holiday dates

IF YOU'RE looking for a way to stretch your precious days of annual leave a bit further this year then you are in luck.

If you can get in there first before your colleagues, you can actually bag yourself 24 days worth of holiday in May using just 14 days of annual leave.

In fact, there are a number of opportunities to make your holiday allowance stretch further in 2018.

By choosing your dates around key bank holidays and Christmas, you can actually DOUBLE your annual leave.

During Easter holidays, if you take the week starting the Monday, March 26 off and the week after, you will be away from work for 16 whole days despite only sacrificing eight days.

There are similar tricks you can pull around the August Bank Holiday where just four days of annual leave can get you nine days off.

Request leave from Tuesday August 28 until Friday August 31 and treat yourself to an end of summer break.

And at Christmas book seven days off to get 16 days leave.

How to make the most of your holiday days

If you have a 25 day allowance, book these days off for maximum efficiency:

  • 24 Mar - 8 Apr (16 days off with 8 leave days taken)
  • 5 May - 28 May (24 days off with 14 leave days taken)

Or, if you have a 25 day allowance and want a summer holiday, book these days off:

  • 22 Dec - 6 Jan (16 days off with 7 leave days taken)
  • 5 May - 28 May (24 days off with 14 leave days taken)
  • 25 Aug - 2 Sept (9 days off with 4 days taken)

If you have a 29 day allowance, book these days off:

  • 22 Dec - 6 Jan (16 days off with 7 leave days taken)
  • 24 Mar - 8 Apr (16 days off with 8 leave days taken)
  • 5 May - 28 May (24 days off with 14 leave days taken)

In total, if you are entitled to 25 days of annual leave and follow all these tricks from , you can get 50 days away from work.

If you are fortunate enough to have 29 days of annual leave, you can stretch this even further and actually land yourself a whole 56 days off.
