Of course, the obvious answer here is switching the central heating on - but there's an easy way to make it work more effectively.

Not only will this make for a cosier home, but it will also save you money in the long run, experts explained.

The secret buy, bargain lovers recently shared on Facebook, is a special insulation foil, which you place behind the radiators.

The reason this works is because putting foil behind radiators allows the heat to be reflected back into the room.

, which sells for £12.99, is the perfect winter essential that will help you reduce the heating costs - whilst in summer it will make the rooms less hot.

According to the discount supermarket Aldi, the budget-friendly find is ''easy to install with no mess'', as you simply cut to fit the radiator and secure it using built-in adhesive strips.

What's more, the heating product can be used for up to three radiators, reads the description online.

The affordable find has already become a major hit across many households in the UK, with countless shoppers raving about it.

One member of the popular said: ''That's the stuff my dad put behind his radiator and works well.''

''Yes it does [work]. I have done it for every radiator in the house...'' someone else chimed in.

Another was keen to give the sheets a go, writing: ''I have an old house so doesn't have any internal insulation. So I might try this.''

Meanwhile, others shared a less pricey alternative - using regular old kitchen foil.

''I've been doing this with kitchen foil for years, works just as well.''

''Currently £3 in B&M but that's just for one radiator..so would be worth getting the Aldi one if you want to do more than one ,'' a cash-savvy shopper told others about a better deal.

To make the radiators even more effective, it's also recommended to deep clean and bleed them every once in a while.

How to bleed your radiators?

Cash-strapped Brits can shave money off their energy bills in minutes just by bleeding their radiators.

In simple terms, bleeding the radiators mean letting out air that's become trapped inside - this is often responsible for cold spots.

The task, though quick and simple, is also very effective - and here's how you can do it before the cold sets in.

You will first need to put the heating on and check which radiators have cold spots, particularly at the top.

For the bleeding process, make sure to switch the heating system off and find a special key - these are available at most DIY stores.

Attach this key attach onto the radiator valve, which is located at the top of the radiator, and turn it slowly anti-clockwise, holding a cloth underneath to catch any spilling water.

If you hear a hissing sound, this means the air is escaping - once this has stopped you can close the valve to stop water coming out.

According to pros, you should bleed your radiators once a year to ensure they're running properly.
