Native to tropical rainforests, the houseplant thrives in humid conditions.

The leaves of the plant will help absorb moisture in the air while it grows to stop condensation in its track - also preventing mould.

And the best part is that you can purchase one for just £7.50 from B&Q.

Not only will it add a touch of greenery to your bathroom - but thanks to its moisture sapping skills you won't have to worry about watering it.

Peace lilies should be kept away from pets due to their toxicity levels.

For those who are already affected by black mould - there are ways to get rid of it.

One cleaning expert revealed there was a £1 buy that not only gets rid of the stains but also kills it.

While most people use bleach to attack mould, Laura Harnett, the founder of  eco-cleaning tools, revealed it does little to tackle the problem.

Instead she recommended using white vinegar to get rid of mould.

“White vinegar has antifungal and antibacterial properties and will remove mould in an eco-friendly and cost-effective way," she explained.

The acetic acid in white vinegar makes it perfect for killing mould, and you want to buy one that contains five to six percent of the acid.

White vinegar can kill up to 82% of mould types including black mould on porous and non-porous surfaces.
