A MUM has urged parents not to let their kids use electronic devices while they are charging.

Mel Watts, from sunny Australia, took to social media claiming she felt an electrical charge when rubbing her daughter's back, who was using a charging device at the time.

"Last night when I was saying goodnight to Indie I was rubbing her back and I could feel this really weird feeling. I thought it was something on her skin,' The mum began.

"She was playing on her iPad so I got my husband Nolan to come and he felt it too.

"We realised it was a current coming through the iPad, we've never felt it before."

The parents then demonstrated how the device seemingly conducts an electric current through whoever is holding it's body.

The couple touch each others bare shoulder while holding the device and claim they can feel the current.

Mel was so concerned by what she had found she even got an electrician to come out to her home for safety advice.

"An electrician came over and he couldn't feel it until we realised he was wearing boots, we told him to take them off and he could feel it too," she explained.

In the caption of the Instagram video added: "We have no idea what it is or how it’s happening. Anyone else have this?"

According to Apple's official  it is possible for some devices to generate static electricity while using them.

"Static can potentially build up on almost any hardware and could be discharged," the statement reads.

"This condition is similar to dragging your feet across a carpet and receiving a static shock when you touch a doorknob."

"This condition isn't limited to Apple hardware. Static can potentially build up on almost any hardware and could be charged through any brand of earbuds."

The clip quickly went viral and plenty of social media users took to the comments to share their thoughts.

'Never use a phone or iPhone while on charge,' warned one.

'I've read it has something to do with the current not grounding,' another wrote.

A third expressed their concern for Mel's family, warning, "When they originally tested iPads for safety they were in a stand on a table, not in a child's hand - hence how they are rated as safe. There are so many horror stories on this topic."

Others claimed it could be an indication that electrical wiring in the user's house isn't grounded properly, although Mel said 'the power is fine,' in the clip.
