Poorly sealed windows and doors can let cold drafts come in and let heat escape from the home, so you're basically throwing your money away.

An easy way to check for drafts is by running your hand along window frames and door frames to see if there is a cold breeze coming through.

If you do feel a draft, Warren recommends using weatherstripping or applying caulk to fill in the gaps.
