A MINER has revealed she makes nearly £50,000-a-year in a job that gives her a whopping six months off in that time.
Kenzie Greaves, 24, made around £1,700 a week from her FIFO (fly in, fly out) role after moving from New Zealand to Perth, Australia.
Her work pattern was one week on then one week off before she decided to quit to pursue a modelling career.
But now the Kiwi would consider going back to the role as she misses the graft.
She says: “I miss the lifestyle and the money.
“I’m so bored sitting at home and I want to be more hands on and busy and do both jobs.
“I met my best friend on site in the workshop so it was fun flying to work together and we could occasionally eat dinner after work at the same time.
“But if you struggle to make friends or talk to people or don’t have anyone you get along with on site I can imagine it would be extremely lonely.
“My swing (the work roster) was pretty easy though because one week away from home isn’t that bad.
“Some people do six weeks away at a time and that would be hard.”

However, Kenzie often surprises people when she reveals her love of mining.
She says: “I fit the category of getting best of both worlds as a girl because I think it’s cool and handy that you can get down and dirty and do a tough job, work hard and don’t always care about materialistic things.
“Plus working hard for your money and being helpful with a trade or basic skills like services on a truck/car, fixing things around the house etc should be done by the girl too.
“I don’t wanna have to expect a man to do everything for me in life, I love being hands on.
“But also it’s nice to have the side of you where you do dress up, wear a nice dress or makeup, get some nice photos and do nice things with your friends.
“I’m not a girly girl at all but I can be if I want to.”
She adds: “I got the assumption all the time because I’m a half decent looking girl with long blonde hair that I couldn’t be doing a physical job.
“I probably ‘got with the boss’ to get the job because I couldn’t earn it another way.

“They think if someone takes pride in their appearance a bit they are too scared to get dirty and work hard but for me it’s the opposite.
“I would rather get dirty, do a physical job, be hands on and work with the guys than get dressed up and look pretty.”
