However, one mum has left people divided after revealing her tots name as people said it reminded them of a 'scummy' British town.

Taking to social media, one woman revealed that she heard the particularly odd name while at work.

"One of my regular customers revealed that she'd just had a baby via surrogate," she wrote on Reddit.

"She named her… Plymouth."

Many Brits will know the port city is based in Devon and is known for its maritime history and ocean views.

But it seemed not everyone was a fan of the name paying homage to the city.

Many claimed the city was scummy and disappointing, and wouldn't dream of calling their child after it.

"She should pair up with the guy I knew called Preston to form a support group for people named after disappointing British cities."

One stunned Reddit user, who studied illustration at Plymouth College of Art, said of the city: "I found it a bit unfriendly.

"There were good bars and pubs - the 'Mutley Mile' was always a thing where you start at the bottom near Drake Circus and work your way up all the bars and pubs up to the top of Mutley. Some great places back then, but I'm not sure if they’re still going.

"It just looks tired though, and scummy. None of the houses I visited (friends or family or looking for a place) were particularly nice until I found a place at the top of Mutley.

‘I’m pretty sure any attention is good attention,’ laughs mum who’s given her baby a VERY surprising name - and she wants to call her next kid Mortician

"All old houses that are clearly just student accommodation so the landlords don't bother doing them up. It's an alright place to hang out, I guess, but definitely not the prettiest city."

Another said: "She should pair up with the guy I knew called Preston to form a support group for people named after disappointing British cities. I also went to college with a girl called York, but she was Chinese so definitely not named after the city!"

Others social media users felt Plymouth was a great name for the little girl and was no worse than other city-based names

A third commented: "Not my favourite but not any worse than London or Brooklyn or something."

Another remarked: "As someone from Essex the times I've come across an American called Harlow is pretty funny. I even read a book once with a character named Gatwick… very unfortunate."

Plus, one mum who gave birth as a teenager has revealed that she wouldn't pick the same baby names now.

Breanna often gets questions about getting pregnant so young, and one nosy viewer was keen to learn her two children's names.

The mum wrote: "Be nice cos I named them at 16 & 17!"

She then revealed she'd named her daughter Cyanna and her son Kaiyzen.
