How often should you wash your hair?

Hopefully, you're bathing yourself daily – but that doesn't mean you need to along with your body.

Miller said that every day, as some people do, might be overkill – and will stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more oil, making it more .

He told : “Unless you’ve been working really hard at the gym or have been on a building site and it’s covered in dust – you .

"There's a big # at the moment, with people boasting about going weeks without shampooing, but for most of us, cutting out one or two washes will make a big difference."

The frequency you need to reach for the shampoo depends on your style.

Some celebrities have gotten the memo.

In 2018, star shared an photo four days after the Golden Globes, admitting she hadn't washed her hair since the ceremony and felt like she could go another few days.

also wrote on her now-defunct website: “I only a week to prevent it from drying out. I also love using hydrating at-home hair masks.”

In 2008, even admitted that she usually skips shampoo altogether.

waits two weeks between washes, goes three days, and washes every second or third day.

But it's not a one-size-fits-all formula, so you have to figure out how often to wash based on your own hair length and type.

Coloured Hair

Dyed hair is likely to be drier and therefore .

To keep those natural oils that help condition your colour-treated hair, shampoo just two or three times per week.

This will also help your colour last longer and help maintain the health in your hair.

Curly Hair

Curly hair requires some special considerations since it's so prone to dryness.

Experts recommend washing your hair no more than every other day, and as little as once per week if your hair is particularly dry.

After A Salon Blowdry

A good blowdry should last you a week.

“Let it evolve," Scott recommends. “If it’s curly and has been blowdried straight, it’ll get a bit of a wave in it.

“It might just need a good brush – leave it another day and you could be surprised at how good it’ll look.”
