And with celebrities rocking designer crossbody bags, high-street giants have clocked on and brought us dupes.

That includes New Look, which has a dupe of Chloé’s Marcie small saddle bag with two straps included.

The New Look piece has received rave reviews from buyers, who have dubbed the £24.99 Brown Webbed Crossbody Saddle Bag “better than high end”.

“Quality is better than high end products and very affordable,” one said.

“You can style it with multiple things, I love it.

“It’s amazing quality and very stylish.”

Others described the size as “perfect”, adding that it’s “not too big or small”.

The bag features gold tone hardware, tonal stitching and a curved construction reminiscent of  Chloé’s Marcie design.

“This practical yet stylish crossbody saddle bag has plenty of space for your keys, phone, wallet (and the rest of the mess),” New Look bosses said.

“The detachable shoulder strap design means you have the option to change it to your favourite.”

By comparison, its designer inspiration will set you back a whopping £1,050.

“This Marcie small saddle bag is crafted from grained calfskin,” Chloé bosses said.

“The harmonious mix of a clean top-line and round silhouette is typical of the Maison's play on masculine and feminine notes.

“Marcie's adjustable leather strap is perfect for long shoulder and crossbody wear.

“The Maison’s Marcie bag line blends a feminine aesthetic with a 70s folk spirit.

“Decorative saddle stitches create equestrian appeal, while the glint of brass hardware and the dangling tassel add a feminine touch.”

Saddle bags originated from their use in equestrian culture and were originally designed to be attached to a horse's saddle for carrying food and tools during long journeys or hunts.

Their design allowed riders to distribute weight evenly on either side of the saddle.

Now, designers across the globe incorporate elements of saddle bag design into handbags and purses.

Luckily, they’re as useful now as they were thousands of years ago for hunters.
